The durability and beauty of Polished Concrete. The Lythic system is an advanced, Lithic based sealer, hardener and densifier for concrete. It is a much more effective alternative to conventional sodium or potassium silicate surface hardeners. Designed for use in residential and commercial situations where good looks and a hard, easy clean surface is required. Lythic has a very low VOC rating suitable to applications in green rated environments. Learn more about Lythic.

Application of the Lythic hardener creates a hard marble like concrete surface which dust proofs the concrete for easy maintenance. It allows the concrete to be polished prior to application of the Lythic gloss System. After application of the Lythic hardener the floor is honed or polished useing resin bonded diamonds to create a very smooth finish. Application of the Lythic sealer creates the beauty of Polished Concrete.

Benefits of the system

  • Perminant hardening will improve abrasion and scratch resistance
  • Decrease floor maintenance and less wear on the concrete surface
  • Elimination of dusting from efflorescence and concrete dust
  • Transforms porous concrete into hard dense surface
  • Enhance ambient lighting and beauty of the floor
  • Easy to apply and repair if required
  • Environmentally safe Low VOC ratings

In addition to Polished Concrete Floors, we offer a wide range of services including Diamond Grinding to remove glue and tile matrix from the surface of the concrete. We prepare concrete for timber and tile overlays as well as moisture barriers.

Our large commercial diamond grinding machines are designed to remove bulk stock from the surface of the concrete to preper for most situations. Our industrial vacuum cleaners suck up and collect 99.9% of any waste dust. Waste dust is bagged and disposed of.Contact us for more information.

Husqvarna Hiperfloor is a world first flooring concept for the grinding and polishing of old and new concrete floors. By combining Husqvarnas world leading equipment, diamond tools and concrete treatment products, Hiperfloor delivers a system whereby new and old concrete floors can consistantly be transformed into highly abrasion resistant, dense, smooth and visually appealing surfaces. This is Polished Concrete at its best.

In short Hiperfloor stands for High Performance Flooring. Hiperfloor is not a surface coating system. It is a method for machanically grinding, treating and polishing concrete floor surfaces. The concrete is treated with Husqvarna’s “Hiperhard” silicate densifier and “Hipergaurd” penetrating sealer.

The result is a very hard, incredably abrasion resistant and attractive hard flooring solution. It is designed to feature in Retail applications, Supermarkets, Warehouses, Shopping Malls, Factories, Aircraft Hangers and many other enviroments were a hard, wearable, workable, easy clean situation is called for.

What are the benefits: Traditionally, concrete floors have been covered by a variety of floor coverings, surface coatings and topical clear sealer coatings such as epoxies, acrylics and urethane. When looking at the life span of these topical clear sealer coating systems they are often expensive to install, have high ongoing maintenance costs and eventual replacement, however the underlying concrete still remains. Hiperfloor substantially reduces the need for recoating and downtime costs by converting the actual existing concrete into the finished surface, able to withstand the toughest of traffic whilst providing spectacular visual appeal.

Other benefits include: Very low maintenace costs, scuff and high abrasion resistance, fantastic light reflectiveness, high stain resistance, longevity. To learn more about Husqvarna Hiperfloor Polished Concrete

Grind and Seal system vs Grind and Polish System

“Polished Concrete” is a generic term widely used to define a style of concrete grinding to achieve a decorative finish to the surface of concrete. There are two different grinding methods to achieve a Polished Concrete Floor. These two different grinding methods are commonly known in the trade as “Grind and Seal” and “Grind and Polish”. They are both commonly referred to as “Polished Concrete”.

The Grind and Seal system is very common and widely used. However this system it is not a true “Polished Concreter Floor”. It is a cheaper version. The Grind and Seal system is when the concrete is ground back to achieve the desired stone exposure level. After the grinding process has been completed the concrete is sealed with a high build, clear coat sealer such as an epoxy, acrylic or urethane. This system is generally more cost effective in the short term. However this system is more prone to scratching of the sealer coating, can discolour from UV and delaminate from the concrete surface. Hence there are more long term recoating costs.

The Grind and Polish system (Also referred to as “Diamond Polished Concrete” DPC ) is created by grinding the concrete back to achieve the desired stone exposure levels (same as in the Grind and Seal system) After the grinding process the concrete is hardened with a densifier. This densifier reacts with the cement, hardens and increase the surface strenght of the concrete. The densified surface is then “Honed” or “Polished” to achieve the desired sheen or gloss level. The honed or polished concrete is then sealed with a penetrating sealer to protect it form stains and migration of water into the surface of the concrete. After sealing, the surface is Burnished to remove any surface contamination. The Grind and Polish system is becoming more widely used and accepted as a far superior system to the Grind and Seal system.

Concrete Grind and Polish offer a number of different “Polished Concrete” options in both oil and water based finishes.
